Review ★ Etude House Etoinette Crystal Shine Lipsticks

Hello~

Long time no post @_@. School ended around a month ago, but I've had a lot of person problems within the past month. Anyways, things are a little better now, so I'm back with a review! Today I will be reviewing the newer Etude House Etoinette Crystal Shine lipsticks, more specifically PPK005 (Precious Etoinette Peony) and PBE102 (Moon Flower Under the Stars). Aren't the names pretty? * u * The previous Etoinette lipsticks had pink packaging, where as the second releases have white packaging.

This perfumed smooth lipstick delivers a surge of moisture and soft shimmering flush, giving your lips a gorgeous look.

Directions: Twist to dispense make-up and apply evenly to lips
Caution: 1) Use only as directed. 2) Avoid storing in high and low temperatures and areas exposed to direct sunlight. 3) Cease use if problems arise.

As expected, the packaging is adorable. The design on the box matches the name of the collection, because it has a kind of regal feel, but it is still very feminine. The lipstick packaging also looks very nice with it's intricate detailing around the bottom half, as well as the little knob on the lid. The container is made out of plastic, and to be really honest, it feels cheap LOL. But that's what you get for the affordable price.

For some reason this image keeps appearing like it's a JPEG, so it doesn't look as clear as the other ones >_<
The lipstick bullets look really dark in the photos. But the true colour is where the light hits the bullets on the left side. The lipsticks apply fairly smoothly, and they give a healthy shine to your lips once applied. The shine is a mix of the slight moisture it possesses, as well as the flecks in the lipsticks. These lipsticks aren't super pigmented. I feel like it doesn't match the sample swatches of the product infographics (you can find this in the link to the product at the end of this post). The sample swatches are very opaque and true to the bullet colour. Like the description says, it is perfumed. It has a floral scent which isn't overpowering enough for you to 'taste the scent' (if you get what I mean LOL), but I still find it a little odd for a lip product. I'm not a fan of floral scents on lip products, but to each their own.

PBE102 is a nude shade, while PPK005 is a blue-ish red shade. The one (PRD302) I didn't purchase is supposed to be a strong true red shade.

I feel like the PBE102 doesn't apply evenly. I find it hard to attain a solid application, where some parts look blotchy or even powdery. However, I really like PPK005! It looks very similar to the Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm in Succulent Pomegranate (one of my all time favourite lip products). It's fairly pigmented, and it doesn't look uneven.

I've looked at other reviews, and I feel like I'm the only one who is kind of disappointed by PBE102. The photos from other bloggers look exponentially better than mine, since their swatches look very opaque and true to colour. Also, PBE102 settles in to lines, and it looks a little more obvious than PPK005 when it does. I don't think it can be used as a tinted lip balm sort of thing even though it claims to be moisturizing. I would recommend exfoliating your lips with a sugar scrub or appling lip balm before applying this if you have dry and/or chapped lips.

I rarely post my face in posts, actually I think I've only done it once. But I was in a selfie mood sooooo yeah, you can see how it looks like worn. You've already seen these photos if you follow me on Instagram haha.

While Etude House doesn't fail to impress in the packaging department, the lipsticks are a little lackluster over all; especially PBE102. I think it's a nice addition to the makeup collection, however there are better lipsticks within that price range online or in drugstores that provide an abundance of pigmented shades.

I purchased this from rubyruby76 on ebay for $11.33 USD, however they're listing it as $14.16-15.73 now (link). You can also find it on f2plus1 ($11.87), rinishop ($11.07).

Have you tried the Etoinette 2 lipsticks? How did you like them?
What is your favourite Etude House lip product?
