Review ★ Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Lasting Lipstick

Hi!

I was actually going to post this before the holidays, but opted for posting other posts instead LOL. Although the berry/red lip was a staple for the holiday period, it can still be worn anytime. The plums and berry trend is great for that edgy, yet feminine touch.

I was on the fence about buying this because darker colours are more high maintenance than lighter colours. It feels like a lot more effort to get the perfect shape, whereas lighter colours are a lot more forgiving. But I went for it anyways, and I definitely don't regret it! I actually even bought the 4 mini set with 3 other colours because I didn't really want to buy the full-sized versions of the other ones LOL. I probably could have returned this, since this one is in the mini set; but I feel bad returning used makeup :c.

For organizational purposes, I'll only be reviewing Melted Berry. If you would like swatches of the other ones, please feel free to comment with a request for them ^^!

"The shine of a gloss, lasting power of a stain, and pigment-packed colour of a liquid lipstick, all in one high-impact formula. Bold, long-wearing colour glides on cleanly with the precision tip applicator, delivering rich colour with staying power. It is formulated without: parabens, sulfates, phthalates."

It comes in the following colours:
★ Melted Nude - neutral nude
★ Melted Peony - dusty rose
★ Melted Marshmallow - candy pink
★ Melted Candy - bright fuschia pink
★ Melted Fuschia - hot pink
★ Melted Coral - creamy coral
★ Melted Ruby - blood red
★ Melted Berry - berry red
★ Melted Fig - rosy orchid
★ Melted Violet - violet orchid

"Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy. Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense colours that lasts for hours. Innovative angled velvet tip allows for precise application. No brush needed!
I typed that out in the caption because it might be hard for some to read the text because the fonts is dark on a black background.

"Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicalcium Phosphate Stearalkonium Bentonite, Silica Silylate, Propylene Carbonate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Aroma/Flavor, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate. May Contain (+/-): Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 6 (CI 15850), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)."
French version of the description.

I think the packaging for Melted Berry and Melted Ruby look sophisticated due to the darker packaging, in comparison to the lighter colours which appear cuter. The darker packaging combined with the black and gold creates a luxurious vibe, which matches the feel of a red or berry lip.

It comes in a tube with a screw on cap that is similar to some lip gloss packaging. I have yet to see another 'lipstick' in tube form, so the concept is interesting. The screw on cap eliminates the possible problem of a lipstick cap coming off in your bag, which prevents any potential messes from happening. The sponge tip is great for an even application and precise application. I find it a little difficult to be precise around the outer corners of my lips though since the tip isn't angular enough. I use a brush or a lip liner to sharpen the edges, and concealer to touch up around the edges.

As you can see above, the lipstick has amazing, rich pigmentation! Although it looks true-to-colour in the swatch, it is not as dark as the packaging suggests when it is worn on the lips. Nonetheless, the colour is gorgeous. I'm more of a fan of cool-toned, darker reds, rather than the vibrant or warmer reds. It really comes down to preference and which shades of red suit you the best! I'm not much of a red lip kind of person, but I really like wearing this colour~

The long lasting liquid lipstick will not be your cup of tea if you adore the matte finish, because these have a semi-glossy finish. However, you can apply translucent powder on top to make it matte! I don't have any strong feelings towards the slight sheen, but it does make it so a lip gloss isn't a necessity. The lipstick doesn't feel thick, creamy or tacky upon application. It feels like it dries out as the day progresses, so having lip balm or lip gloss on hand is useful to prevent that dry/tight feeling. As with a fair amount of lip sticks and glosses out there, it will accentuate flakiness if you have very chapped lips.

It definitely lives up to its name when it comes to longevity, because this literally lasts me all day without reapplication. The initial layer with the sheen dissipates over a few hours or with consumption of food and beverages. Despite that, it leaves a lovely opaque wash of colour behind which lasts for a long time. The good thing about it is that it is low maintenance, so you don't need a lot of reapplications throughout the day.

While I do love this shade, I can't say I've fallen for the other ones since I prefer my nude lip colours to look more on the natural side. Applying lipgloss on top of it makes the light colours feel a lot more wearable, however those are not go-to shades for me. Nonetheless, the shades on their own are really nice! Perhaps I'll grow to like them a little more over time. I would recommend this to those who love opaque, bold lips.

There are currently several shades available at Sephora; however, Too Faced has newer shades available on their website. I would consider purchasing more once they're available for purchase at Sephora.

They go for $21 USD and $25 CAD (before applicable taxes); the price is high relative to drugstore items, but it is expected of a mid-range product.
